Mary Jane Morgan of Fitchburg, MA changed her name to Mary Jane Mellen. The town of Mellenville, New York, was named after Dr. David Mellen (son of James and Elizabeth Mellen) in 1837. I believe that I got this information about 10 years ago from the town clerk in the nearest town that has a town hall!
