Robert Johnston says that Hardee and Martha were killed in a railroad accident and the children were raised by their uncle and aunt - Doc and Zelphia Dickerson Brazzil. However, Dee was remarried and the obit says nothing about his wife being killed. It says he was unmarried so Willie may have already been dead or they were divorced.

Obituary from Temple Daily Telegram, Temple, Texas, Thursday Morning, February 27, 1919
M.D. Brazzil, who was struck Tuesday afternoon by a Katy train near Little River, died at 3:30 in a local institution of surgery. The home of the deceased is in Waco. He was 48 years of age, and was unmarried.
His brother, Doc Brazzil, lives in the Grove community.
The funeral services and interment will be held this afternoon in the Grove cemetery.
