Mrs. Ella P. Mixon Dies At Dodson; Funeral Friday
Mrs. Ella Puckett Mixon, 71, native of the Gansville Community, died at the home of her only daughter, Mrs. Morris Gates in Dodson at 3 a.m. Thursday, December 13.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Dodson Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Friday with the pastor, Rev. Edgar Cripps, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be K. C. Simmons, Charles Lee Bates, C. B. Payne, Cecil Collins, Neal Taylor (Neil), and J. W. Tarry (J. Y. Terry).
Mrs. Mixon was the widow of the late John Mixon, and a member of a prominent Winn Parish family. She was affiliated with the Dodson Baptist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Morris Gates of Dodson; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Sledge, Ringgold, and Mrs. A. T. Stinson, Ruston. (This is Addie and Gordie.)

Funeral Services For John Mixon Held At Gansville
Prominent Gansville Citizen Dies Suddenly Last Thursday
John Mixon, prominent citizen of Gansville, died suddenly at his home Thursday night of last week. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Gansville church conducted by the Rev. J. W. Buckner of Jonesboro and the Rev. W. T. Strain of Simsboro. Masonic services concluded the rites. Interment was in the Gansville church cemetery.
Mr. Mixon was born March 11, 1883 near Gansville, where he lived his lifetime. In 1906 he was married to Miss Ella Puckett and one daughter was born to them, however, at different times he has opened his home to five orphaned children to whom he gave a father's devotion. He was a member of the Baptist church at Gansville and also the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ella Puckett Mixon, one daughter, Mrs. Maurice Gates, two granddaughters, Ella Sue and Ada Lynn Gates, three brothers, A. L. Mixon of Dodson, O. J. Mixon of Winnfield, and C. R. Mixon of Pineville.
Pallbearers, nephews of the deceased, were Joe Mixon of Homer, Dan Mixon of Dodson, Claud Mixon and Elton Mixon of Winnfield, and Virgil and Arthur Taylor of Gansville.

Former Resident of Winn Dies in Oklahoma City
Mrs. D. M. Walker, who will be rememberd in Winn Parish as the former Susie Puckett, died at her home in Oklahoma City, Okla., Sept. 30, folliwng a year's illness. Mrs. Walker was a member of a well known family of the Cypress Creek community. She is survived by a number of relatives here, among whom are Mrs. Ella Mixon of Dodson; Mrs. Fannie Walsworth of Cypress Creek, Allen Place of Winnfield; J. D. Puckett and Mrs. A. T. Stinson of Jonesboro. (She was related, but how?)
