5008 Menton was raised by his grandmother, Isabelle Melissa Thompson Arledge. His parentage is unknown.

In the 1900 census, Menton is in the household of Isabelle Melissa (known as "Melissie" or "Lit") born July 1886, father born MS, mother born TX. Melissa is listed as HOH, and notes that he is her grandson. She was born in MS, not TX, further evidence that he is not her son.
In the 1920 census (I have not been able to find him in 1910), he is listed in Milam Cty., TX in the household of Frances Bonner, age 75, who is the mother of his first wife. He is listed as Menton ALDRICH. It also lists his wife, Jennie, age 29, sons Willie, 19 and Clifton 17, and daughter Jennie, age 15. This does not seem to fit, since the mother is only 10 years older than the oldest child. (One more thing to research!)
I have found Menton Williams Arledge in the IGI as married to May Simpson on July 15, 1926 in Rockdale, TX. This fits with info I found in a cemetery book listing Menton Arledge (1886-1958) and May Arledge (1884-1964) as buried in the International Order of Foresters (IOOF) Cemetery in Rockdale. IGI also says that May Simpson was born July 7, 1884 in Brownsville, TX, daughter of Louis Simpson and Sallie Gallop. [Craig Baumbach]
The marriage is actually Menton to May McBroon. [ggh]

5010 Meredith seems to have had a problem with getting older. When we first meet him on the 1830 census, he is listed as either 20-30 (1800-1810) or 40-50 (1780-1790) but I believe the younger would have been John McGhee or a brother. On the 1840 census, he is still 40-50 (1790-1800). Finally, in 1850, he is 57 (1793). I've chosen a midway point for him in 1786.
The Margaret Parrish on the 1850 census is Hartsman, Meredith married her in 1846. I'm not absolutely certain this is the same Meredith.
There is a young man of 19 on the 1850 census in Hancock County named Meredith Parrish. I can't place him with our Meredith and Sarah,

5025 Michael Lutsinger - Michael Lutsinger arrived in Philadelphia, PA, on September 9, 1738, aboard the ship "Glasgow" from Rotterdam, Germany, via Cowes, England. He was age 29 at the time and was one of 120 men along with 229 women and children who sailed together from Europe to America (they were called Palatines because they came from the region of Germany called the Rheinland Palatinate). On this same date, he and the other male adults were qualified and took oaths to the Government at the Courthouse in Philadelphia. This infomation may be found in "Pennsylvania German Pioneers", pages 204-208. According to "Colonial Soldiers of the South, 1732-1774" by Murtie June Clark, page 96, Michael Letsinger was in Captain John White's Company, Maryland Militia, for six days service, about 1758. In an issue of the Maryland Historical Magazine, Vol. 9, article titled "French and Indian War", page 267, Michael Letsinger is reported to have received 48 0..6..0 pounds for his service during the French and Indian War. In "Monocacy and Catoctin", C. E. Schildknecht, editor, page 261, Michael Lutzinger is mentioned for giving a bill of sale in 1759 to George Poe for 3 horses, 7 cattle, and one iron pot; this transaction apparently occurred in Middletown Valley, which is located west of Frederick, MD. This information originated from Frederick County, MD land records, specifically Land Record F. >From this last item, Michael Lutzinger is listed in the "Genealogical Index to Frederick County, MD", Vol. 3, page 89. Finally, in the "1783 Tax List for Baltimore County, Maryland, Baltimore East Hundred", page 10 of a transcribed version, the name Michael Litzinger appears, along with Henry Litzinger and Peter Letzinger. Since Michael Lutsinger was born in 1709, I believe this Michael may have been either the eldest son of Phillip, below, or a member of the Baltimore area Litsinger families. Plaintiff-Surname - Matcek
Plaintiff-Given Name - Jennie
Defendant-Surname - Matcek
Defendant-Given Name - Frank
Date of Divorce - 10/18/1910
Volume - 2
Page - 143
Note - Minor children: Lillie, a girl, age 11 & Minnie, a girl, age 12.
Why aren't the other children named?

Virginia Matcek's death record gives her mother as Virginia Arledge, her mother married Menton Arledge.

I'm still not sure that all seven of the children belong to Frank AND Virginia, perhaps a case of yours, mine and ours.

I cannot find a death record or cemetery record for Virginia Arledge. I have to assume that she married again. Maybe that is where her daughter got the Stewart Crain portion of her name? [I've found Virginia's death record and another marriage but I stll don't know where the Crain came from.]

Out of 7 children, I've only managed to track two to their deaths. Edward may have died as an infant since he isn't on the 1910 census. Clifton and Willie are on the 1920 census with their mom. Minnie and Lillie were probably married. Menton re-married in 1926 but I don't find any of them on the 1930 census. I think Jennie lied about her age because she was so much older than Menton. That might explain why Menton didn't know Charley's mother's name. The 1900 gives her birth as Jan 1879, still making her very young when she married about 1894. Girls did seem to marry at a young age when their fathers died.
