Welcome to the Armstrong Family Ring.
Armstrong Clan Colors
This ring is for members of the Armstrong family - any Armstrong family.  To be considered for membership in the ring, your site should contain some family information or history or belong to an Armstrong.   The images above are the family crest (our logo), Gilnockie Tower in Gilnockie, Scotland (the home of some of our ancestors), and someone's idea of the clan colors.  I took that bit of tartan from an Armstrong site somewhere on the internet.  I couldn't resist, please forgive me.  The real tartan looks like the background.
I have been reading up on coats of arms and crests lately and I find the the previous paragraph is not entirely correct. A coat of arms belongs to a PERSON, not a surname. A crest is the object which sits atop the full coat of arms. The image portrayed in our logo is a badge (generally worn on the cap, kilt pins, or as sporran ornamentation). Scottish heraldry laws allow us to wear this badge to show our allegiance to the person who owns the original coat of arms. What we see in this badge is the crest (the raised arm and fist) encircled by a belt and buckle, with a bit of the tartan visible in the background.
I have found that the people who want to sell you your family's coat of arms are generally crooks. They just research people with your surname and ship you a copy of that individual's coat of arms. In our case, if there were more than one Armstrong with a heraldic coat of arms, you and I may get different coats of arms from the sellers.

RingSurf has changed the format of the traditional surfing code. I don't like it but there isn't much I can do about it.
